A Body of Water premiered in 2005 at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. Blessing conceived the play as he was suffering from the “post-trauma effects” of a recent divorce after a long marriage. Never quite satisfied with how the play ended, he revised the ending nearly ten times over the years. The play’s ending was heavily updated in 2018. That new ending premiered at the Actors Co-Op Theatre in Hollywood in February 2020, however that production was shut down due to the Covid pandemic. Only a few theaters have produced this final ending, and we’re excited to premier the new ending here in Chicago.

About the show: Avis and Moss wake up in a house they don't know, with no memories of themselves or each other. A young woman named Wren claims to be the key to unlocking the truth about their identities and what brought them there. But every claim she makes is darker and more unsettling than the last. A Body of Water is a desperate search for truth where the only certainty is uncertainty.
